S. M. Tafsirul Islam is currently working as a ‘Research Associate’ at ‘Sustainable, Healthy and Learning Cities and Neighborhoods (SHLC)’ project in Bangladesh.

Tafsirul is responsible for planning, analysis, interpretation, and documentation of the SHLC project research activities in Bangladesh. He is working on the research component of urbanization, internal migration, neighborhood characteristics, and urban policy.

He has research interest in urban geo-spatial planning and urban utility services.

Tafsirul has worked with a number of International NGOs (i.e. SNV, ACDI-Voca, Enviu, Save the Children) as well as with local govt. and govt. ministries as a research assistant for the projects related to multi-hazard venerability assessment of fire and waterlogging in Khulna, urban sanitation, and quality and risk assessment of urban services.
