Sarita Bansal

Research Associate (GIS)


Sarita Bansal is currently working as Research Associate (GIS) at National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA), New Delhi. She is working on the project “Sustainable, Healthy and Learning Cities and Neighborhoods.  She has obtained Ph.D. degree from Indian Institute of Remote Sensing in collaboration with Forest Research Institute, Dehradun. In her Ph.D, she analysed the land use/ land cover changes (LULC) in Yamuna river basin and predicted the future LULC patterns using remote sensing, GIS, statistical methods and modelling technique.

Before joining NIUA, she had worked as Research Assistant in Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, New Delhi. She has also worked as Research Fellow in IGBP-LULC project at Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, ISRO-Department of Space, Dehradun.

She has published research paper in peer reviewed international journal. Her area of research includes GIS, remote sensing, spatial analysis, natural resource management and sustainable development.
