Michele Schweisfurth

Michele Schweisfurth is Professor of Comparative and International Education and Director of the Robert Owen Centre for Educational Change in the School of Education, University of Glasgow.

Michele is interested in the ways that global frameworks such as human and child rights, ‘best practice’ pedagogy, and the Sustainable Development Goals are enacted at national and local levels.   As a generalist she has written widely on the relationship between Education and Development, and as a specialist she has intensively studied classroom practice and teacher identity in changing contexts such as those experiencing political transition.  Originally from Canada, she has conducted research in several countries in Africa and Asia.
