Assistant Professor Mark Anthony M. Gamboa is the In-Country Co-Investigator for the Philippines of the GCRF Centre for Sustainable, Healthy, and Learning Cities and Neighborhoods, a project supported by the Global Challenges Research Fund of UK Research and Innovation.

As In-Country Co-Investigator, he assists the In-Country Lead Investigator in the management and leadership of the project, specifically in overseeing and coordinating in-country project deliverables, including research and capacity building activities such as knowledge exchange events and workshops in line with the research proposal and agreed priorities and plans for the project.

Being a lawyer and a registered and licensed environmental planner, his professional practice focuses mainly on planning law and administration and institutional capacity assessment and development. His research interests and professional experience include urban and regional planning legislation, policy, and administration; real estate planning and development; governance and institutional capacity development planning; and, strategic planning for public and non-profit organizations.

Mark is assistant professor at the School of Urban and Regional Planning, University of the Philippines Diliman and a faculty affiliate at the Faculty of Management and Development Studies of the University of the Philippines Open University. Mark previously served as visiting professor at the College of Politics and Governance, Mahasarakham University, Thailand in 2012. He serves as consultant for various international, national, and local government entities in the areas of environmental planning, urban and regional planning, local governance, and planning for not-for-profit institutions.
